
Joana Afonso Dias holds a first degree in Statistic and Information Management from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, has two postgraduate degrees in Marketing and in Information Organization and Management, holds a Masters in SME Management and Economics (Spain) and a PhD in SME Management and Economics from the University of Huelva. Her main research interests are statistical analysis of data, habits and attitudes associated with specific groups of people, and Information systems and technology applied to tourism. She was a lecturer at the University of the Algarve (ESGHT) and at INUAF where she taught Statistics, Marketing and Management & Property Sales.
She has participated in several national and international conferences and has authored several national and international scientific publications. She is editorial board member of ACTHR, has been ad-hoc reviewer for TM, Anatolia, JCTHR and Tourism Geographies. She is also involved in several tourism research projects. Currently she is the producer and manager of the Start of Up Loulé Design Lab
