Kate Torkington

KATE TORKINGTON, PhD, is Professora Adjunta (Adjunct Professor) at the University of the Algarve, School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism. Her research in the field of lifestyle migration stems from her doctoral thesis, and has led to several publications, including articles in journals such as Mobilities and Social and Cultural Geography, as well as an edited book, Practising the Good Life: The Good Life in Practices. She is currently a researcher at CiTUR - Centre for Research, Development and Innovation in Tourism (Portugal). Her current research interests include: lifestyle in migration; tourism-related mobilities; language practices in tourism and migration contexts; migrant identities and place-identities; politics of place; sustainability discourses and practices in tourism; migration to rural areas.
